Police are investigating the death of a woman in Sydney’s south-west after she was found in the stairwell of an apartment complex with severe burns to her body.

Emergency services were called to properties in Wycliffe Avenue, Campsie, just after 3pm on Monday after a 44-year-old woman was found in a stairwell with burns.

She was rushed to Concord Hospital as police began investigating the mysterious incident.

Around 9:30 p.m., police were told the woman had died in hospital.

Her identity has not yet been officially established.

A report will be prepared for the coroner’s information.

No one else was injured as a result of the incident.
