I’m A Celebrity viewers make similar exit demands as campmate sparks fury | Television and Radio | Show business and TV

I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! viewers have already decided who they want to kick out of the jungle first, and it looks like too much screen time has led to this backlash.

The 2024 series of the hit ITV reality show saw viewers quickly fall in love with lively and funny radio presenter Dean McCullough.

The 33-year-old immediately attracted attention with his reactions during the tasks, and his fearful squeals were a lot of fun and as a result he was chosen for almost every challenge.

But Dean’s constant selection for auditions inadvertently resulted in other stars being sidelined, receiving far less attention.

This prompted viewers to speculate that Dean should go first, allowing others to take center stage.

Social media was awash with calls for the Northern Irish presenter to be the first to be evicted from the camp, with one viewer writing: “Can we all collectively agree that Dean should be the first to leave the jungle #ImACeleb #imacelebrity.”

Another agreed: “Tired of people voting for Dean. Vote for him, yes, when the time comes, but I’m tired of his look, let someone else try.”

A third added: “How soon can Dean be voted out? Every time he appears on screen, he puts on an unbearable entertainment show.”

There was also a shift in sentiment towards Dean after he had a confrontation with Coronation Street’s Alan Halsall. Alan angered Dean by asking him to help Jane Moore collect firewood.

The radio host retorted sharply: “Listen to me. If you’re going to wake me up, you need to give me a minute, okay?

“My contact lenses take a couple of minutes to start working again, okay, so you don’t have to turn to me and say, ‘You don’t like that?’ Fine?” And then turn around and leave.”

Speaking on I’m A Celebrity Unpacked, Ant McPartlin also admitted he would like to see another celebrity take the stand at the trial.

“This is not a personal matter. It’s not about Dean,” Ant insisted. “It’s about us, we just see different people there.”

He continued, “I think we want to have different people go through (the tests) on the show. Some people unfortunately don’t get… I’d love to see Barry do the test. I’d love to see Melvin or Oti there… I don’t know who else is voting for Dean.

Ant’s relationship with Dean has been frosty since the start of the show, with the Britain’s Got Talent presenter admitting he acted “unprofessionally” during the trial.

However, Ant appeared to soften towards the Radio 1 DJ as he congratulated Dean and shook his hand after he successfully won nine stars in Absolute Carnage with Coleen Rooney.
