Tortilla strips recalled after undeclared wheat found in bags – NBC New York

Sugar Foods has recalled bags of tortilla strips sold in the United States after discovering the packages contained undeclared wheat.

According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, a consumer alerted the company on Nov. 19 that the bags were filled with crispy onions, not tortilla strips. Crispy onions contain wheat, which is not listed on the tortilla strip label.

To date, there are no reports of the disease.

The recall affects Santa Fe Style Fresh Gourmet Tortilla Strips 3.5-ounce bags with a best before date of June 20, 2025. The product is packaged in stand-up, reusable bags.

Recalled packages will have UPC code 7 87359 17504 6. Best by date and UPC code can be found in the lower right corner of the package.

The recalled product was shipped to distribution centers in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, New Jersey, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, Virginia . and Washington from September 30 to November 11.

Consumers are advised to either throw away the bags or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers can contact Customer Service at [email protected] or (322) 240-6676 with any questions.
