Haven’t applied for the New Jersey Affordable Communities for Homeowners and Renters (ANCHOR) benefit yet? If not, you need to act quickly as the deadline is a few days away.

When is the deadline to apply for ANCHOR benefits?

New Jersey homeowners and renters have until Friday, December 6 to apply, and you can apply for ANCHOR benefits online.

What is the ANCHOR program in New Jersey?

According to the New Jersey Department of Taxation, the ANCHOR program offers property tax relief to New Jersey residents who own or rent property in New Jersey, use it as their primary home, and meet certain income limits.

This year’s ANCHOR benefit is based on location, income and age as of 2021.

New Jersey homeowners who were under 64 in 2021 and have a gross income of less than $150,000 will receive $1,500. Homeowners who are 65 or older in 2021 will receive $1,750.

New Jersey renters who were 64 or younger in 2021 will receive $450, and renters over 64 in 2021 will receive $700.

Check my ANCHOR status

New Jersey residents can check their ANCHOR benefit status online.

If you have not yet applied for NJ ANCHOR benefits, the New Jersey Department of Taxation recommends that you do so online.

“Most homeowners can apply online using an identification number (ID), PIN and password or using the ID.me verification feature,” the New Jersey Department of Taxation states on its ANCHOR website. “However, if you purchased a home in 2021, changed your deed, or had certain life changes such as divorce or death of a spouse, you must apply using the Special Circumstances Statement.”

Payment NJ ANCHOR

You will receive ANCHOR benefits a few weeks after your application is submitted and accepted.
