The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – Summary of Episode 6 “The Book of Carol”

“Au Revoir les Enfants” begins with Daryl and Carol individually deciding who should accompany Ash and Laurent to the Commonwealth. The former can’t even think of leaving his best friend alone in France, which is no different from the latter’s thought process. She even asks the pilot to take Daryl instead, but he chooses her because she is familiar with the workings of his plane. Given that her best friend knows “the places” enough to survive without them, Ash doesn’t see the point in flying to the United States with him instead of her. Meanwhile, Jacinta tracks down Anna, the owner of the Half Light, who is helping Daryl and Laurent.

Jacinta offers Anna a plane in exchange for Laurent. The latter leads the Christian leader to the American group’s hideout, but changes her mind at the last minute, thinking about the boy’s purity and innocence. She sacrifices herself to a walker to slow down the Union of Hope soldiers, giving Daryl and his gang a chance to escape Jacinta. The American Wanderer says goodbye to Carol, Laurent and Ash, who set off on a journey through the Commonwealth, where the boy can join the other children and lead a normal life. However, when Jacinta’s men try to stop the plane, Carol leaves it and overcomes the obstacle.

With great relief, Daryl and Carol watch the plane fly off to their “home” in the United States. The same sight is the end of Jacinta’s mission, causing her to commit suicide. The two Americans then join Fall, Stéphane Caudron and Akila to find two Scots named Fiona and Angus. Two British men promise to take the group to England, from where they can try to leave for the United States. Akila does not want to join them because he is looking for a woman named Jamila. The remaining survivors set off for England, but Fallou has a change of heart. He loves Akila so much that he has forgotten about the luxurious life that awaits him across the Atlantic.

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – Carol’s Book Ending: What happens to Daryl and Carol? Who appears in their visions?

Daryl and Carol have to go through a tunnel with Fiona, Angus and Caudron to eventually reach England. During this walk, they are exposed to bat droppings and several bioluminescent creatures that cause them to hallucinate. Carol sees a girl holding a toy. The sight of this man evokes strong emotions in her, and this is enough to conclude that the child is her late daughter Sophia Peletier. She struggled with the reality of the latter’s passing even after all these years. Since Carol can’t even remember what her baby’s face looked like before she became a walker, she is in a severe condition that causes her to sink into hopelessness.

Carol doesn’t understand why she should continue to live if she can’t even remember Sophia before she died. To survive, she had to face several life-threatening challenges and opponents, which took its toll on her. At this point, even death doesn’t seem like a bad option to her. So she asks the vision of her deceased daughter to take her to the “other side.” For Carol, death is nothing more than a reunion with her daughter and freedom from the exhaustion she feels from simply surviving. However, she overcomes the temptation to accept the end of her life in order to save Daryl from the walkers surrounding them.

Meanwhile, Angus and Fiona attack Daryl because they want the existing gas masks to escape the tunnel unharmed. After an unexpected ambush, he sees a young man in his vision. The British attack and the subsequent sight of the man nearly paralyzes him, leaving him open to pedestrians. The man in uniform is none other than his grandfather William Dixon. The World War II veteran died during the Normandy landings, the largest naval invasion of all time. The soldier’s death devastated his family, forcing Will Dixon, Daryl’s father, to grow up without a parent.

Daryl believes William’s refusal was the reason Will was absent from his life growing up. As the protagonist lies in a tunnel, wounded and awaiting death, the deceased Isabelle appears in his vision to warn him. She tells him that he should not be like his grandfather, who left his family in the United States to die in France. Her imaginary words seem to convince Daryl that he needs to get up and try his best to get to the Commonwealth, where Judith, Laurent and several other children are waiting for him, who is nothing more than their father figure.

Where did Stephane Caudron go? Will Daryl and Carol find him?

Like Daryl and Carol, exposure to bat droppings and bioluminescent creatures severely affects Caudron, who hallucinates his deceased brother Michel. When Daryl sets out to kill Walker, he misunderstands that the American is trying to kill his brother and sister. He then attempts to kill his former enemy, but is distracted by another vision of his brother. He ends up running away to find a loved one who doesn’t actually exist. Because he has lost his mind, Caudron is not even aware of the walkers around him, meaning that he faces death within a short distance without even realizing it.

If Caudron doesn’t understand what’s happening to him, his chances of survival will be dangerously low. However, this does not mean that he will definitely die. His mad dash to the end of the tunnel may even save him from walkers and exposure to the toxins inside the passage. He can come to his senses and wait for Daryl and Carol to show up so he can continue his journey to England. Since the American realizes that Guerrier’s ex tried to kill him because of his visions, Daryl may not leave him just yet. Moreover, he is indebted to Caudron for his efforts to save Laurent from Madame Genet, Losang and Jacinta.

If Caudron had not protected Laurent, the boy would probably already be dead. Daryl can’t ignore the same thing, especially since Guerrier’s ex did the same thing, putting his life on the line. Moreover, while traveling through an apocalyptic wasteland where most survivors are selfish, the Americans can appreciate the Frenchman’s reliability. So if he hasn’t died yet, Daryl and Carol can find him and continue their journey.

Will Daryl and Carol make it to the United States?

Daryl and Carol plan to get to the Commonwealth as soon as possible to reunite with their “family”. However, from what we can tell, they won’t be crossing the Atlantic anytime soon. The already announced third season of the post-apocalyptic drama will be set in Spain, meaning the two best friends will arrive in La Pille de Toro after a brief stopover in England. “(In) Spain we have a completely different atmosphere than in France, which is really cool. We’re getting into a Western vibe, a little bit of a spaghetti western vibe, and the colors are different. It’s sandy and dusty and windy, and we’re in this very difficult city,” David Zabel, the series’ creator, told Collider.

Even if the series is renewed for a fourth season, Zabel and his writing team are not planning an immediate return to Daryl and Carol’s homeland. “We could do some more in Spain or maybe move to another location,” the creator added when asked about a potential fourth installment. Therefore, the arrival of the main characters in the Commonwealth could be the end of their adventures and the conclusion of the series’ narrative. Until then, the two best friends are expected to remain elsewhere, facing a variety of unexpected challenges, life-threatening adversaries, and huge herds of walkers while waiting to be reunited with their family.
