BOSTON — Samuel Ersson stopped 23 shots, Tyson Foerster broke a scoreless tie early in the second period and the Philadelphia Flyers beat the Boston Bruins 2-0 on Tuesday night.

Joel Farabee scored into an empty net with 24 seconds left to give the Flyers their first win in Boston since a 3-2 win on April 5, 2021.

Ersson scored his sixth career goal and first this season. He suffered a scare about five minutes into the third period when the puck came off his skate behind him. But he plopped down on him with his back and prevented him from crossing the line.

Takeaway

Flyers: After starting 2-6-1 and allowing an average of 4.22 goals per game, Philadelphia posted its best defensive performance of the season. The Flyers broke a five-on-three power play early in the first period and held Boston to three shots on goal in the third.

Bruins: The Flyers had no answer despite outscoring them 21-12 in the first two periods. Boston lost for the second time in four games, also falling 4-0 to Nashville on Oct. 22.

Boston’s Joonas Korpisalo made 17 saves.

Key Point

With Philadelphia defenseman Jamie Drysdale on the ice after blocking a shot that made it too painful for him to get back on his skates in front of his own goal, Ersson made three saves—two from David Pastrnak—before the whistle finally sounded at 4:08. in the second, and Drysdale was able to return to the bench. Foerster scored 1:24 later.

Key Statistics
