Red Sox legend receives hostile reception from Yankees fans in Bronx

The Yankees returned to the Bronx on Monday to host the Dodgers in their final 4-2 loss in Game 3 of the World Series, meaning the Fox broadcast team was also in New York.

The fans at Yankee Stadium gave David Ortiz the welcome he expected.

“Daddy sucks!” the crowd chanted for the Red Sox legend as he sat between Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez.

Ortiz was unfazed and instead laughed at all the booing before saying, “Come on man, show Papi some love!”

Ortiz, a three-time World Series champion with Boston, hit 541 career home runs with 1,768 RBIs and was a 10-time All-Star. He was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2022 after receiving 78.9 percent of the vote on his first ballot.

The Yankees will host the Dodgers again on Tuesday in a must-win Game 4, trailing the series 3-0.
