Tom Sandoval and Tom Schwartz are closing Schwartz & Sandy’s Bar

Vanderpump Rules Stars Tom Sandoval and Tom Schwartz announced Monday they will be closing their Los Angeles bar Schwartz & Sandy’s at the end of December after two years in business.

The reality stars cited complex financial problems and Sandoval’s cheating scandal as reasons for the bar’s closure in a statement to People. Sandoval and Schwartz opened the bar in November 2022, just months before it was revealed that Sandoval had cheated on his longtime girlfriend Ariana Madix with co-star Rachel Leviss, a pop culture scandal now known as “Scandoval.”

“The decision to close was one of the most difficult decisions we have made,” Schwartz shared. “We agonized over this for a long time because we truly believe this is a great bar that still has potential. Unfortunately, the current situation for this business is quite difficult. Bouncing back from all the negativity after the scandal was not easy, and with the decline in profitability post-COVID, it has become even more difficult to bounce back.”

Schwartz added: “This is already a difficult business, and the damage from ongoing bad press over the past year has made the situation even more difficult. It was hard not to feel resentful and bitter, but eventually we had to let it go—no more repeating what went wrong.”

Schwartz & Sandy’s marks the second business the Toms have launched together, following the opening of TomTom Restaurant and Bar in 2018 with Lisa Vanderpump. The bar’s opening was documented on Bravo cameras, but fans quickly attacked Sandoval and his business, leaving negative reviews of Schwartz & Sandy’s on social media after Scandoval made headlines.

Sandoval detailed the couple’s decision to close the bar in a statement posted to Instagram on Monday.

“It is with a heavy heart that we have made the difficult decision to close Schwartz & Sandy’s at the end of December,” Sandoval shared. “This choice was not easy for me and my partners, but other priorities and commitments emerged. While this business venture has been an incredible stepping stone in my life that I will always cherish, I look forward to exciting new endeavors.”

Sandoval added that Schwartz & Sandy’s will host several events over the next few weeks, and the bar remains available for private events until the closure.

“The allure of being associated with reality TV has obscured what is an amazing place for Los Angeles residents,” he wrote. “I highly encourage you to visit us, especially if you haven’t already. Let’s get together one last time.”
