Auburn Projected to Flip 5-Star CB No. 1 Ohio State Commitment

Ahead of National Signing Day, the Auburn Tigers are working hard to add the crown jewel to their 2025 roster.

Auburn’s 2025 recruiting class currently ranks fifth in the country according to 247Sports, but the Tigers are doing everything they can to add one of the top players in the country and improve their position.

Naeem Offord, a five-star cornerback from Birmingham, Alabama, committed to Ohio State on Feb. 4 of this year, but the Tigers’ attempts to lure Offord never stopped.

On3’s Steve Wiltfong has an expert prediction that Auburn will take Offord out of Ohio State with a 60% confidence level.

Offord told AuburnLive’s Justin Lee that his final decision will be made by Auburn, Ohio State and Oregon, and he will announce his decision on National Signing Day (Dec. 4).

Offord was on hand at Jordan-Hare Stadium for Auburn’s thrilling four-overtime win over Texas A&M. This was Offord’s fourth visit to Auburn this season, although he has been a frequent visitor to the Plains for years.

After the game, Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze realized how important the win and atmosphere were to the future of the program.

“I’m so grateful,” Freese said. “Grateful to be at Auburn and grateful to give our fans a win like this. I hope this is a sign that there will be many of us. There are a lot of new recruits in the locker room. They should join us and help us continue to build our squad. so we can have more evenings like this.”

Offord, a 6-foot-1 athlete who attends Parker (Ala.) High School, is the No. 1 guard in the country and the No. 4 prospect regardless of position, according to ESPN.

If Offord transfers to Auburn, he would become the third five-star prospect to join the Tigers’ 2025 class and would be their highest-rated recruit. Jared Smith, a 6-foot-6 edge rusher from Alabaster, Alabama, currently occupies that spot, ranking 25th nationally according to 247Sports.

The work that Freese and his staff have done for the state of Alabama is outstanding. If Auburn signs Offord along with the rest of its commitments, they will have nine of the top 10 prospects in the state.

If the Tigers’ efforts to add Offord to their 2025 class are successful, their class would rise to No. 2 nationally, ahead of Alabama, Ohio State and Texas.

Offord will be the fifth highest-rated prospect Auburn has ever had, according to the agency. 247Sportsa spot currently occupied by Trey Blackmon, a five-star linebacker the Tigers took in 2005.
