On-site construction is due to begin at Sheerness Port in March 2025.

A port in Kent is investing £30 million in a new quay to meet growing demand.

Peel Ports Group is building a jetty and floating pontoon to increase the cargo handling capacity of the Port of Sheerness.

Construction on site is due to begin in March 2025, with the new berth expected to be operational in the summer.

The new facilities will handle boats arriving at the port carrying cargo including vehicles, paper rolls, timber, construction equipment and building materials.

The facility processes about 300,000 vehicles annually, according to the group.

Peel Ports Group added: “This project will support further growth for port clients such as Volkswagen and CEVA, who use Sheerness as a key location for their operations in the south of the UK.”
