Officer-to-officer shooting case: West Sumatra police deny gunman had mental disorder

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – West Sumatra regional Police deny that the suspect in an officer-on-officer shooting is mentally unstable or under the influence of drugs. The culprit is the Chief of Operations (Kabbagops) of the South Solok Police Resort, Adjunct Commissioner (AKP) Dadang Iskandar.

“There is still no criminal with a mental disorder, this is a misconception. The fact is that until now the criminal’s condition is still healthy and normal, and we can still present him here,” said the head of the Public Administration. Komisaris Besar Dwi Sulistiawan of the West Sumatra Regional Police Liaison Department at a press conference in Padang, Saturday, November 23, 2024.

He said shortly after AKP Dadang Iskandar surrendered last Friday, police immediately conducted a urine test and the results showed that the offender was not under the influence of drugs or narcotics.

“But we will still investigate, we will conduct another urine drug test today, namely hair and blood tests,” he said.

West Sumatra Regional Police General Crime Investigation Department Director Chief Commissioner Andri said AKP Dadang Iskandar shot and killed his colleague AKR Rianto Ulil Anshar in the early hours of Friday, November 22, 2024.

In this case, the suspect was charged with premeditated murder, which carries the death penalty. According to Andrey, the article was used after studying the chronological sequence and testimony of witnesses.

One of them is the number of bullets the suspect was carrying when he visited the victim at the South Solok police resort on Friday. “The attacker had two magazines with him, one of which contained 15 bullets and the other 16 bullets, and there were also 11 bullets in his trouser pocket,” he said.

West Sumatra Regional Police investigators have so far only found that the motive of the gunman who shot AKP Ulil Rianto was that he was angry that his friend had been arrested. The criminal asked Rianto to release his friend, but his request was not granted. “So emotions were stirred up and he resorted to shooting,” said West Sumatra Regional Police General Crime Investigation Department director Komisaris Besar Andri Kurniawan.

Andry explained that a friend of the arrested criminal works as a driver and is suspected of involvement in illegal mining at Site C. “But we are still investigating whether the criminal is also involved in financing in this case,” he said. .

After the arrest, AKP representative Dadang Iskandar visited the victim with the intention of asking for help in freeing the driver, but since his request was not granted by the victim, the perpetrator shot the victim in the head until he died.
