Fairmont Breakers Long Beach Officially Opens in Southern California

Accor’s luxury brand Fairmont Hotels & Resorts has a new hotel that’s as California chic as it is Old Hollywood.

The Fairmont Breakers Long Beach, which was named one of TPG’s most anticipated hotels of 2024, opened this month after a multimillion-dollar renovation. The seaside hotel, built in 1926, has hosted screen legends such as Elizabeth Taylor, Cary Grant and Clark Gable over the years. But no guest will be as glamorous as you, of course. The property was built in collaboration with local investment and development group Pacific6 and participates in Accor’s Live Limitless loyalty program.

“With the highly anticipated debut of Fairmont Breakers Long Beach, we are not only bringing a piece of history back to life, but together with our partners at Pacific6, we are also ushering in a new era of luxury in Long Beach,” said Fairmont CEO. This is stated in a statement by Omer Akar. “At the heart of what we do at Fairmont is that we are at the social epicenter of this place, celebrating life’s most important events together.”

The hotel has 185 rooms, including 22 suites. In true Fairmont style, guests can look forward to the luxurious amenities of Le Labo, as well as stunning views of Long Beach Harbor or the palm tree-lined downtown area. The hotel’s renovation aims to provide both a coastal color palette and a mix of modern furnishings with nods to the past. The original plaster moldings, exterior ornamentation and even the lobby mailbox have been restored to their original 1920s glory.

But guests will also have plenty of modern amenities, such as a luxury spa, a rooftop bar and the return of the Sky Room, a fine-dining restaurant that first opened in Long Beach in 1938 and offers views of the Pacific Ocean skyline as well as fresh seafood and tender steaks. Italian restaurant Nettuno is sure to be a favorite for lunch and brunch lovers, while Halo, the hotel’s rooftop bar, is a decadent spot to enjoy a sunset martini. Those looking for even more 1920s references can check out Alter Ego, the Fairmont’s jazz bar, which offers a dimly lit sanctuary to unwind after a long day.

However, complete relaxation will be enjoyed by those who frequent the Fairmont Spa, a luxurious 10,000 square foot spa offering a wide selection of facials, massages and body treatments.
