Virat Kohli had a memorable outing on the first day of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy Down Under. Much was expected from India’s best batsman, but he failed with the bat. Virat managed to score only 5 runs off 12 balls. He was dismissed by Josh Hazlewood, who dismissed four Indian batsmen.

To top it all off, Virat Kohli took an easy catch. Marnus Labuschagne on the slips. The right-handed batsman easily caught Virat at second slip. He caught the ball safely, but it somehow fell out of his hands.

The Indians began celebrating Labuschanie’s wicket but were quickly forced to stop it. Bowler Jasprit Bumrah I also started celebrating. Virat quickly threw the ball towards the stumps to let everyone know that he had missed his chance.

Marnus Labuschagne was batting at 0 when he was given a lifeline. Although he managed to score only 2 runs, Labuschagne played 52 balls. Mohammed Siraj got rid of him in the 21st over. He challenged the referee’s decision, but replays showed three reds.

17 wickets fall on day one

The opening day of the Perth Test belonged to the bowlers as 17 wickets fell on the first day of the series. Hazlewood scalped 4 wickets while Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Mitchell Marsh scalped 2 wickets each as Australia bowled out India for just 150 runs.

Jasprit Bumrah gave India a great start with the ball and dismissed Australia’s openers early. The India captain trapped Steve Smith on the very first ball.

Australia continued to lose wickets throughout the day and were hovering at 67/7 at stumps. India still lead by 83 points and will be looking to overtake Australia in the first hour. Australia have not lost a single Test match at Optus Stadium.
