From Vision to Value: A Strategic Approach to Adopting Generative AI

Generative AI has the potential to redefine productivity, create new applications, and reinvent the customer experience. But without a strategic approach, you could not only miss out on this powerful tool, but also waste time, energy, and resources on other critical initiatives in your organization.

To that end, Kristen Backeberg, Director of Global ISV Partner Marketing at AWS, and Val Henderson, President and CRO at Caylent, recently sat down to discuss perhaps the most important point of adoption: how to adapt your generative AI strategy around clear goals that can move your organization forward.

Their conversation, like many others about generative artificial intelligence, began with an overview of particularly powerful use cases. However, both AWS and Caylent have helped dozens of organizations implement generative AI, and Backeberg and Henderson understand that getting started on this journey can be challenging.

The solution, according to Henderson and Backeberg, is to know which use cases will generate the greatest ROI.

“(The first implementation) should provide a real return on investment,” Henderson said. “From what we see, if this does not happen, the adoption of generative AI will lose popularity and attention. It’s losing momentum. It’s not good for anyone because we’re seeing such incredible innovation and the pace of that innovation has never been faster.”

Additionally, a focus on customer experience provides a clear North Star for AI initiatives. By focusing less on buzzwords and more on clearly defining the purpose of the system, organizations can ensure effective development and productivity.

“People always want to understand why,” Henderson added. “Why did we do this? Did we do it to check a box, or did we do it because it helps us further our vision, our desire to help our customers, to create a better experience for the future?”

By combining forces with Amazon Bedrock, Caylent has been able to help more than 50 customers in even the most highly regulated sectors implement generative AI solutions, proving that this approach is a powerful way for organizations to bring use cases to life.

“That’s where AWS feels good about trying to make sure that we continue to think differently,” Backeberg said, “thinking bigger, thinking outside the box, and putting the pieces together along the way that create some of the necessary guardrails. while we develop this space.”
