At the end of the show, Irish hunk and TV presenter Reverend Richard Coles was announced as a late arrival for the year, sending viewers into a frenzy.

Maura, 32, who rose to fame after appearing in the fifth series of Love Island, joined the rest of the cast in Australia.

However, as expected in the jungle, things are not so simple as Maura and Richard have been isolated to their “base” camp.

During a phone call with Ant and Dec, the pair learned they would have to convince the other camp they were sending it to the scrapheap.

Maura immediately expressed concern about being late to the already close-knit camp.

She said: “I’m absolutely horrified by the food problem and the problem with the glass on my head with spiders in it.”

The funny lady joked: “I don’t want to eat testicles on TV.”

Maura added: “Even talking about them makes me sweat. I’m not a nervous person, but it will be hard.”

“I’m ready to step outside my comfort zone. I hope I’ll really make myself proud and I’m both excited but also really nervous because I’m scared of absolutely everything.”

The presenter also admitted that she wanted to leave the series “a braver Maura.”
