(Note to readers: This week we decided to present you with a satirical work. This advertisement is written in the style of C.S. Lewis. Doodle Lettersin which the older devil gives his best—that is, worst—advice to the younger devil.)

My dear Stephen,

Fallen Angel, Alexandre Cabanel.

I was very pleased (as much as we can be pleased here in the Hell Realms) to read about your efforts to build a team on earth. You have assembled a wonderful cast. (Inkgibbet’s posts about your new colleagues have been very intriguing. In particular, I look forward to learning more about your new Attorney General—a kindred spirit if I’ve ever met one.)

However, as servants of the Archdemon, we are not allowed to rest; We are not given a moment’s respite. If you do not achieve results, rest assured that I will not suffer, and neither will you.

You seem happy with your plans. I don’t think you have any reason for this. This, as I understand it, is exactly what you are proposing to do.

  1. You plan to create a “Warrior Council” to weed out officers. who can resist you.
  2. Then you plan mobilize the National Guard to then begin a campaign of mass deportations.
  3. Once you have arrested non-citizens, you would of course expect that repatriate them urgently. This will of course include mothers and children.
  4. The last time you tried to deport mothers and children, you encountered a very human problem: complaints about “breaking families.” The solution you suggest is to deport the whole familyeven if there are US citizens in the family. No family separation problems this time!
  5. Where are you going to put all these people? Well, we read that your team wants to deliver them”extensive storage facilities that will function as transshipment centers” Euphemisms are reserved for mortal children. Between you and me, let’s be frank: you intend to open camps.

You cannot seriously believe that these plans will come true.

First, people will instantly understand your plan and oppose it. It is simply not possible to fire all the generals who “lack leadership qualities”; it will alienate and anger the very people you expect to do your bidding.

Second, the troops you mobilize will not be willing to become domestic law enforcement agents. What people mean by “oath” is a mystery to us at the deepest level, but it seems clear that what they mean by the word is a promise that they find difficult to break. They have all promised to uphold the “Constitution” – just a piece of parchment, of course – but you may find that they are quite stubborn in their insistence on carrying out its ink decrees. Moreover, many of these troops the immigrants themselves. Do you expect them to whistle while working?

Thirdly, you will be checked at every step by lawyers and judges. Your track record in the first four years of imposing the Constitution, not impressive. If you invoke the Insurrection Act, open migrant detention camps. en masseexpect to read a lot about Korematsu v. USA. Expect your activities to be organized left, right and center. And wait buckets forecasts of habeas corpus.

Federal judges will be ordering you to release people from custody faster than you can say “qualified immunity.” And don’t count on this immunity either. Qualified immunity protects you personally from a lawsuit as long as you do not violate something that was “clearly established” at the time you took action. There is nothing more clearly established in stupid American laws than the right to a trial. You can enjoy it yourself – and what possible evil will it bring?

Remember, you are not given this amazing power because you are a dreamer. Dreams, like the deceptive burden that people call “philosophy”, are for those who have not accepted the hellish realism: what we see is all there is, and we must use it to our advantage while the subjects of our experiments will not be maimed. like a wire. They must regard simple evil as “politics” and cruelty as “hard mind”; they must carry out our will not because we tell them, but because they consider it inevitable.

You cannot expect to achieve poor results without preparing the ground with proper psychological influence. Work on this first or, after the inevitable failure, prepare to meet me in my office. I really want to give you a lecture on strategy and tactics. I feel a certain greed just thinking about it.

As always, I hate questions – and especially comments – and you may not expect an answer.

Your affectionate uncle,

Rifle
