Real Madrid advised to consider Casemiro’s crazy reunion

Real Madrid advised to consider Casemiro’s crazy reunion

Real Madrid have been forced to consider a move for their former player Casemiro in what would be a shock transfer as Manchester United struggle to cope with the summer departure of Scott McTominay.

Casemiro was heavily linked with a move away from Manchester United in the summer following a string of poor performances during the 2023/24 season. Erik ten Hag and United decided to keep Casemiro despite Manuel Ugarte arriving as his long-term replacement from Paris Saint-Germain.

Casemiro outlived Ten Hag, who was sacked on October 28 and has since been replaced by Ruben Amorim.

The midfielder has scored three goals and made 16 appearances in all competitions for United this season.

It remains to be seen whether Casemiro will play an important role under Amorim or remain on the bench.

Real Madrid are struggling in midfield following the retirement of club icon Toni Kroos.

Spanish journalist Tomás Roncero, magazine editor HOW and also appears on sites such as Kadena SER And El Chiringuitohas now proposed a stunning move.

He recommended that Madrid consider re-signing Casemiro despite the Brazilian’s struggles at Old Trafford.

Calling Ten Hag a “failed coach” and saying Casemiro had a “white heart” (for Madrid), Roncero added: “So let me dream and tell you what I dreamed about. With Casemiro we would definitely have had a brutal second half of the season. Everyone around him played better. For (Luka) Modric, (Jude) Bellingham or (Federico) Valverde, he would be a relief…”

Casemiro is a hero at the Bernabeu, having played a key role in Madrid winning numerous trophies, such as five Champions Leagues and three La Liga titles, in seven years.

Despite this, it would be a big surprise if Madrid were to buy Casemiro again. Now 32, he looks set to finish his career at the top level before moving to MLS or Saudi Arabia.

Casemiro cost United an initial £60m (possibly rising to £70m) to sign from Madrid in August 2022.

Manchester United made a big summer mistake

While Casemiro remained at United during the last transfer window, fellow midfielder McTominay left.

To ease their financial woes, United sold their academy graduate to Napoli for €30m (£25m/$31.6m).

McTominay shocked fans in Italy by immediately establishing himself as one of Napoli’s best players.

Former Napoli, Chelsea and Italy player Gianfranco Zola has praised the Serie A club for signing McTominay and questioned United’s decision to let him go.

“One of the best signings of last summer,” he said of the Scotland international.

“Here in England they can’t understand how United let him go. They are struggling to understand this, perhaps this is a choice due to financial fair play. It didn’t digest very well.”

Zola is the latest observer to question United’s methods in the transfer market. They have been criticized in recent months for signing players such as Anthony and Joshua Zirkzee.

Earlier this month, United cult hero Federico Macheda admitted he was “surprised” when the Red Devils sanctioned the sale of McTominay.

Manchester United transfers: Winger will cost big money; Mourinho wants a star

Meanwhile, sources have confirmed to TEAMtalk that agent Jorge Mendes is actively trying to secure a transfer for United striker Giovani Kenda.

United are keeping an eye on the Sporting right-winger, leading to comparisons with the deal that first brought Cristiano Ronaldo to Old Trafford in 2003.

But Sporting have tied Kenda down to a long-term contract and will seek an £84m buyout before letting him go.

Christian Eriksen’s future looks increasingly likely away from United as his contract expires.

Reports from Turkey claim Fenerbahce are competing with Galatasaray and Ajax for the experienced midfielder.

Jose Mourinho is keen on reuniting with Eriksen at Fenerbahce after already signing another former United midfielder in Sofjan Amrabat.
