Swifties gather to celebrate Taylor Swift’s final performance in Indianapolis – Indianapolis News | Indiana weather | Indiana Traffic

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — People from all over the country descended on downtown Indianapolis on Sunday to celebrate the last of three Taylor Swift Eras Tour shows at Lucas Oil Stadium in style.

Mother-daughter duo Rebecca and Allison Bennett made the 10-hour drive from Pennsylvania. They joined the celebration even though they didn’t have tickets to the concert.

Rebecca Bennett said: “It’s just mother and daughter time, so that’s essentially why we came out. We said, “What the hell, let’s just go out and see what happens and spend the weekend together.” The last show is the last show and I don’t know if it’s coming back.”

In their opinion, Indy was a welcoming place. They spent part of the day at Bicentennial Unity Plaza next to Gainbridge Fieldhouse for a free event that included friendship bracelet making, makeup stations, themed food and drink, food trucks, vendors and a DJ.

Rebecca Bennett said: “Everyone from our hotel to the Uber driver we had last night, we cried. So, you guys are so cute.

Swifties love to make friendship bracelets and exchange them with each other.

Afia Botchway, an Indy small business owner who makes waist beads, has joined the beading craze and opened a shop on the square. “It brings a lot of people to town, and small businesses like us are going there too because people recognize us too, so yeah, thanks Indy.”

Things went very well for Bochway this weekend. She loved that it could teach Swift fans about the waist beads and where they were traveling from. From a business perspective, she says, interacting with a large group is very useful for spreading the word. “Many people are also interested, so many people are now following me online. So while they may not buy today, they are following me and I will contact you online. I give my Instagram away a lot.”

Whether you’re a super fan or new to Swift’s music, the celebration brought people from all walks of life together and made Indy a fun place for fans to get into the spirit of the Eras Tour.

The celebrations did not end with concerts.

The after party took place Sunday night at the JW Marriott and will run until 2 a.m. Monday.
