Chappelle Roan debuts new lesbian national anthem on SNL

The Gay Yeehaw program is alive and well.

Chappell Rohan debuted a brand new song called “The Giver” while performing as musical guest on Saturday Night Live on the evening of November 2, 2024. The episode, which began with a special appearance from Vice President Kamala Harris, ended on a high when Roan sang about “getting the job done” in a song that was immediately considered the country’s lesbian anthem.

“There ain’t no antlers on the walls, but I sure know the mating calls… booths in bars on a Friday night,” Roan sang. “I know the boys might want a map, but I can close my eyes and let you trace my fingers like this.”

The chorus went: “You don’t have to tell me, it’s just in my nature. So take it as a taker ’cause baby I’m a giver You don’t need to help me because baby I’m doing the job… I’m not a country boy giving up, I’m doing the job.”

Roan sang in the second verse:

“Girl, I don’t need no pickup truck revving loudly to pick you up, ’cause the way I look depends on the way I touch. And in the city of dreams, good luck finding a man who has the means to decorate with rhinestones. shepherdess all night long.”

After repeating the chorus, Roan took us to the yihau bridge, which conveyed a clear message. “All you country boys say you know how to treat a woman, right?” Roan teased. “Only a woman knows how to treat a woman correctly. She’s doing her job!”

In case you didn’t know, “giver” is another word for “up” in the queer lexicon. So yeah, Chappell Roan just made her SNL debuted with a song that references the experience of reaching the top. We are literally screaming.

On October 21, producer Dan Nigro said New York Times that he began working with Roan on her second album back in July.

Nigro revealed that they were working on a “fun, up-tempo country song” featuring “fiddle” and hinted that it would feature “a new version of Chappelle.” The producer added that they were working on five new tracks, such as “The Subway”, which is reportedly about Roan’s live performances. Moreover, Nigro said that Roan’s second album will include “a couple of ballads and a mid-tempo rock song.”

A week later, on October 29, Billboard published a report analyzing the many hints Roan had made about the upcoming album, with references to the dating show. Love Island and showed a series of Polaroid photos that included the phrase “she’s doing her job.”

Well, now we know that these are the words from “The Giver”!

But that’s not all!

While we’re obviously excited about Roan’s new song and this cvntry performance on Saturday Night Livethe Midwest princess and 2024 Out100 honoree also performed her quirky anthem “Pink Pony Club” as her first musical number.

Looking back, it was poetic for Roan to move from “Pink Pony Club,” a song about exploring her queerness and finding a safe place, to “The Giver,” her new song about being a top lesbian. which can do its job better. than any boring country boy.

We will never get tired of the Pink Pony Club, and this SNL The performance is definitely one for the books.

Oh, and before we leave you, one more thing!

About a month ago, a group of annoying people online tried to accuse Bowen Yang of making fun of Chappell Roan in a sketch where he portrayed the hippopotamus Mu Deng. SNL And Wicked star shared a statement refuting these claims, and we’ve presented plenty of evidence proving that Yang had already been stenciling Roan for years before she reached this level of superstardom.

So please enjoy this adorable moment of Roan and Yang holding hands at the end of what can only be called a legendary episode. Saturday Night Live and the moment has come when this ridiculous conversation will simply disappear.

Chappell Roan, you are an icon!
