Dargaville’s Carly Colmer-Cormish has been named one of the top four bakers in the country and will compete for top spot in Woolworth’s annual Baker of the Year competition on Tuesday.

Colmer-Cormish, 25, will compete against three others in a bid to win the coveted prize of Baker of the Year and a place to compete against Australian bakers.

She has worked at Woolworths Dargaville since she was 18 and started her career at the bakery as a bread packer.

Over the next five years, she perfected her baking skills and worked toward an internship, which she qualified for in 2022.

“I’ve been baking bread since I was a kid and I just love it. I really like the feel of the dough and it’s fun. But I (also) like making a good product.”
