As part of recent efforts to protect Abu Dhabi’s marine resources, Abu Dhabi was fined Dh20,000 by the Environment Agency (EAD) for catching more fish than its daily limit. announced.

Recreational fishing vessels that exceed the daily catch limit must have a commercial fishing license, which these recreational vessels typically do not have. Fishing without this license is considered an environmental violation and is punishable by a fine of Dh2,000. Repeat offenders face harsher penalties: a second offense results in the boat being “booked” for one month, and a third offense results in the boat’s license being suspended.

By enforcing these regulations, EAD is committed to maintaining the health and sustainability of Abu Dhabi’s marine resources, ensuring that they remain viable for future generations.
