North Korea promises to “powerfully support and assist” the Russian army until victory in Ukraine

MOSCOW

North Korean Foreign Minister Choi Song-hee vowed Friday that her country would “strongly support and assist the Russian army” until it wins in Ukraine.

The North Korean diplomat said that the West is actively supplying Ukraine with all types of weapons, “waging war against Russia with the hands of Ukraine” with the aim of inflicting a “strategic defeat” on Moscow.

Choi added that she has no doubt that Russia will win “in the struggle to protect the sovereign rights and security of the state.”

“We also assure that until Victory Day we will always stand firmly next to our Russian comrades,” she said.

North Korea will continue to develop nuclear weapons

Addressing recent reports of North Korea testing missiles, the diplomat said her country will continue to develop its defense capabilities.

Western actions have destabilized the region as a whole, and U.S. military cooperation with South Korea threatens North Korea’s security, she said.

Choi quoted Kim as recently saying that defense cooperation between the United States and South Korea is “transforming into a military alliance with a nuclear component,” making the situation on the Korean Peninsula “explosive” and dangerous for both the peninsula and the world. East Asia.

The minister noted that Washington and Seoul have created a nuclear advisory group, where they are discussing attacks on North Korea with the use of atomic bombs; this year alone, US carrier strike groups have been deployed three times in the waters around her country, and American strategic bombers have carried out attacks over it. at least five flights.

A U.S. Navy submarine carrying nuclear weapons also arrived in South Korea, she said, adding that Pyongyang perceived all of this as threats and challenges.

“Yesterday, the distinguished chairman once again noted that threats and challenges require us to strengthen strategic nuclear weapons and increase readiness for a retaliatory nuclear strike. And I assure you once again that our country will in no way change its course towards strengthening its nuclear forces.” , she emphasized.

Lavrov, in turn, said that cooperation between Russia and North Korea in general and the Strategic Partnership Treaty in particular have a “stabilizing effect” on the Eurasian continent.

Lavrov stressed that the pact lays the foundation for deepening cooperation in all areas.

“The terms of the agreement are already being implemented for the benefit of the peoples of our countries, stability on the Korean Peninsula, Northeast Asia and the Eurasian continent as a whole,” he said.

The Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement was signed during Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit to North Korea on June 18-19.
