JVS will host potential students on tour | News, Sports, Vacancies


BLOOMINGDALE — Jefferson County Joint Vocational School will open its doors to potential students as eighth graders and sophomores prepare to attend. Field trips for eighth graders will take place Monday through November 8th. Sophomore visits are scheduled for November 19-21.

Superintendent and Director Andy Long said the tour is expected to bring hundreds of students from Buckeye Local, Edison, Indian Creek, Steubenville Catholic Centre, Steubenville and Toronto, as well as online and home study programs, to take a closer look at educational institution and its conditions. programs it offers.

Eighth grade visits will begin around 9:45 a.m. Monday, with about 400 students expected from Buckeye Local, Edison, Indian Creek and Toronto. There they will look at 16 JVS programs, including livestock management, auto collision, auto service technology, carpentry, computer network technology, cosmetology, criminal justice, culinary arts, early childhood education, electrical trades, health care technology, and heavy equipment operation. and construction, multimedia and design, energy, transition to work and welding.

“During the tours, students will explore all of our programs and gain insight into the unique hands-on opportunities we provide here at JVS,” Long said. “The purpose of these tours is to introduce students to vocational education at a crucial time when they are starting to think about their future careers. We want them to understand that their future starts now and that JVS gives them an edge. Our goal is to inspire and engage them early by showing them that their education can have a real impact and open up career opportunities while still in high school.”

Visits for sophomores will be held November 19-21 from 9:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. In addition to online and at-home learning, more than 400 students are expected to attend from Buckeye Local, Edison, Indian Creek, Toronto, Steubenville Catholic Center and Steubenville. attend.

Long-time applicants will receive a general overview of the programs and then select the top three that pique their interest. Students will attend these three programs to gain a more in-depth experience during a 45-minute class.
