There are 24 people vying for the position of police chief in Texarkana, Arkansas.

TEXARKANA, Ark. (KSLA) – The Texarkana Arkansas Civil Service Commission held a special meeting Thursday (Oct. 31) to consider hiring a permanent police chief.

Police Chief Michael Crumm resigned in April. And in May, the city appointed Ed Chattaway as interim police chief.

On Thursday, City Manager Tyler Richardson told KSLA News 12 they received 24 applications for the police chief position. It will now be up to the city manager and the Civil Service Commission to determine the best person to lead the Texarkana, Arkansas, Police Department.

Officials said other city leaders will be informed before their selections are made public.
