Hosier Lane in Melbourne is the most Instagrammable place in Australia

Australia is undoubtedly a very photogenic country: from beautiful beaches and natural wonders to cityscapes and street art, it’s easy to fill your camera roll with happy images.

But according to new research, one photo-worthy spot far outshines the rest – and it’s right here in Melbourne. The iconic, graffiti-covered Hoser Lane has been named Australia’s number one Instagram hotspot, beating out other scenic spots across the country.

Hotel chain Premier Inn has released the rankings, revealing the 15 Australian destinations with the most hashtags on Instagram as of October 2024. Hosier Lane had a whopping 200,176 hashtags, with The Grounds of Alexandria topping the list by a significant margin. cafe in Sydney came in second with 121,716 hashtags. Rounding out the top five on the list were Noosa National Park, Glenelg Beach in Adelaide and Eumundi Markets on the Sunshine Coast.

Honestly, it’s no surprise that Hosier Lane is a clear favorite among Instagrammers in Australia. Situated in the heart of the CBD, the attraction has a long-standing reputation as a magnet for camera welding tourists. It’s an ever-changing tapestry of intricate street art and guerrilla-style graffiti with a long and storied history (including plenty of controversy over the years). It’s an iconic Melbourne event and in our (somewhat biased) opinion it deserves the top spot on the Instagram hotspot list.

Several other Victorian-era sites made the list’s top 15, with Geelong’s stunning waterfront coming in seventh, beloved Melbourne landmarks Carlton Gardens and St Kilda Pier coming in 12th and 13th, and Geelong’s Packington Street and Eastern Beach took 14th and 13th places. 15th place.

Needless to say, there are countless Insta-worthy spots across the country beyond this list of just 15. But you can check out the full rankings below.
