Sidney Leroux signs new three-year contract with Angel City

Angel City Football Club announced on Tuesday that forward Sydney Leroux has signed a three-year contract extension until 2027.

Leroux, who joined Angel City in 2022 via a trade with the Orlando Pride, has played in 24 of 25 games this season, scoring seven goals. Her goal total is her highest since 2021, when she scored eight goals for the Pride.

“This is my last outing and I’m very happy to finish my career here,” Leroux, 34, said. “My family and I are thrilled to continue to be a part of the City of Angels and I promise to give it my all until the wheels fall off.”

Leroux has 48 career goals, which ranks eighth on the NWSL’s all-time scoring list.

“The re-signing of Sydney Leroux is testament to her invaluable influence both on and off the pitch,” said ACFC Technical Director Mark Wilson. “As a seasoned professional and an icon of the U.S. Women’s National Team, Sydney played a critical role in the growth of the league and provided our fans with unforgettable moments during her time in the City of Angels.”

“Her goals have contributed to some of our most outstanding performances. We are thrilled that she will continue her career with the City of Angels as we continue to lay the foundation for a sustainable and successful team for the seasons ahead.”

Angel City (7-12-6, 24 points) will finish the NWSL season on Friday on the road against the Portland Timbers (9-12-4, 31 points).
