City of Corpus Christi Seeks Community Partnership for Adopt-a-Park Program

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Corpus Christi Parks and Recreation Department has welcomed new participants to its Adopt-a-Park program.

The Adopt-a-Park program is a volunteer opportunity through Parks & Rec for residents, businesses and organizations to help keep parks, beaches and trails clean and beautiful, according to the release. The program gives volunteers a sense of ownership of the park and the opportunity to benefit the community and the environment.

There are currently 33 parks accepted, but 132 parks are still available.

Potential partners have three levels of opportunity:

  • Level 1: Monthly commitment to pick up trash within 1.5 hours.
  • Tier 2: Tier 1 requirements plus an additional one-time pre-approved project such as a garden, additional seating or any items that benefit the park.
  • Level 3: All requirements of Levels 1 and 2, plus an additional one-time pre-approved major project such as additional playground equipment or specialized park amenities.

All three levels require regular reporting to Parks & Rec on the condition of the adopted park and any areas in need of repair or maintenance.
Some current Adopt-a-Park members include:

  • Friends of Collier Park
  • Disc golf gopher
  • Pony Boy Skateboarding Company
  • Audubon Open Club in Corpus Christi
