Texas Tech Red Raiders offensive lineman Reese Burkhardt and San Francisco 49ers star Nick Bosa had one thing in common over the weekend – they both expressed support for Donald Trump.

Burkhardt scored a touchdown on a fake field goal against TCU and showed off his jersey that read “Trump 24! MAGA.” Bosa showed off his “Make America Great Again” cap after the team’s win over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night.

After Bosa doubled down on his message in an Instagram post, Burkhardt had a message of his own. He shared Bosa’s post on his Instagram stories and wrote, “Bang Bang.”

The 49ers have yet to reveal Bosa’s political stunt. But Burkhardt’s coach spoke out Monday.

“We have solved this problem. We will continue to address this issue. We are addressing this issue internally,” he said, via the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal. “You know, when you’re dealing with young people, really young people, it’s always one of the things, the choices we make and when we make them and when you share them.

“I always think the most important thing about football and basketball and sports like that is it’s a team sport. You always want to make sure you’re putting your team in the best possible situation. you know, I don’t think it’s necessarily a time or a place.

“As far as he’s concerned, we’re going to look into it. We sorted it out on Saturday and will continue to discuss things and find the best solution and keep it at home.”

Politics seem to have infiltrated the sports world again.

Kansas City Chiefs offensive lineman Harrison Butker endorsed Trump for president earlier this month, while Philadelphia Eagles defensive lineman Thomas Booker IV stumped Kamala Harris for vice president.
