Rep. Dingell tells a skeptical Tapper that he might “have to visit” her at the internment camp if Trump wins

Michigan Democratic Rep. Debbie Dingell surprised CNN’s Jake Tapper by claiming that former President Trump had shared plans to put people in internment camps if he was re-elected.

On Monday, the host of “The Lead” asked Dingell how she felt about various Arab American voters from Michigan protesting President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris while other Muslim leaders recently supported Trump at a rally.

While she acknowledged that the Muslim and Arab American community is not a monolithic voting bloc, Dingell argues that they need to be told that Trump will only hurt them.

“The Arab-American community needs to be reminded and cannot forget. He wants to ban Muslims. He wants to deport Muslims and wants to open internment camps. And that’s what we’re busy talking to every voter about. He tells you what he is going to do. Trust him,” Dingell said.

“Internment camps?” – asked Tapper.

“Yes. He talked about internment camps,” Dingell said. “You know what, Jake, you might have to visit me in one of these. I get excited enough when he talks about what he’s going to do to his political enemies, but he talked about them to different groups of people.”

Tapper remarked, “Well, I heard him talk about rounding up illegal immigrants, and obviously you’d need some kind of camp to do that. But what do you mean by internment camps for Muslims and Arabs?”

“He spoke about this in different audiences. I don’t have the exact quote, but I’ll find it for you. And he was very clear,” Dingell said.

“We support Donald Trump because he promised to end the war in the Middle East and Ukraine,” Alzuhairi said. “The bloodshed must stop all over the world, and I think this man can do it. Personally, I believe that God saved his life twice for a reason.”
