Dion’s latest public performance went viral nearly two years after she revealed in December 2022 that she had been diagnosed with stiffness syndrome, a rare neurological disorder that has largely hampered her live music career. After her diagnosis, the 56-year-old singer paused performing and explained that the terminal illness makes her feel like “someone is choking you” when she tries to sing.

However, over the summer, Dion appeared to have achieved success to present a moving rendition of Edith Piaf’s Hymn to Love at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris – her first live performance since her diagnosis. After the performance, she said that she was honored to perform at the sports spectacle.
