Smokey the Bear tells you how to get his Halloween costume

Smokey the Bear shared every bit of his infamous look on his social media, in case anyone needs a last-minute Halloween costume.

As an ardent advocate of outdoor fire safety, Smokey the Bear has become a symbol of the National Forest Service. His educational campaigns have been running since 1944, and his slogan is not far behind. His fame among children increased dramatically, giving them additional incentive to learn fire safety rules.

“Remember… only YOU can prevent forest fires.”

Over the years, Smokey Bear’s designs have remained relatively consistent, with a few modern touches here and there. However, his most consistent and most iconic piece is his official Forest Ranger hat. This, of course, will be a crucial part of the Halloween costume, which Smokey says will cost $36 + $20 for personalization.

To highlight Smokey’s timeless fur coat, he found an inexpensive jacket for just $42 and an economical belt for just $2. Smokey also made sure to remind all the suit lovers out there that he is, in fact, wearing a nice pair of blue jeans; separating him from any bear.

Apparently, fires aren’t the only thing Smokey Bear is passionate about; his recommendation for a custom belt buckle could really tie the whole suit together for $92.

The last part of Smokey’s costume brings us back to Smokey the Bear’s whole raison d’être: fire safety in the woods. To really sell the suit, bring a shovel that is intended solely for putting out fires. Smokey teaches that along with your normal camping gear, you should always carry a shovel, an ax and a container of water to prevent a fire from getting out of control.

Notice how Smokey the Bear chose to decorate the shovel rather than the axe; he will be the last to justify any party failures.

Like many Junior Rangers in the past, those who chose to represent Smokey Bear could never miss a party. Its timeless brand and long-lasting educational campaign will forever go down in history as one of the most consistent and interactive conservation and safety campaigns. This, along with the abundance of Smokey Bear merchandise, is just one way to spice up Halloween night.
