The iPad Pro M5 will be available next year – but not before the iPad 11 and the next iPad Air

2025 could be a big year for the iPad as it now appears that Apple may be planning updates for three models namely the iPad Pro, iPad Air and the base iPad.

This is all according to Mark Gurman, who recently said we’ll see the iPad 11 and new iPad Air in the spring (meaning sometime between late March and late June), along with the iPhone SE 4, and in his latest newsletter for Bloomberg he said the same thing again.

This time around, however, Gurman added that the iPad 11 will likely have roughly the same design as the iPad 10.9 (2022), but it will get a speed boost – which we believe will also allow it to support Apple Intelligence .

Either way, these two tablets will be on sale soon if Gurman is right, but if you’re waiting for the new iPad Pro, then you may have to wait a lot longer, as Gurman said in the same article that he isn’t. I don’t expect this to happen until either late 2025 or early 2026.

When it does, it will likely be powered by the new M5 chipset, but Gurman doesn’t expect any other major changes since the current model is only about six months old in design.

Mostly small updates

So while 2025 could be a big year in terms of the number of new iPads we’ll see, it doesn’t look like these new models will be a significant upgrade from the existing ones.

So, you can probably safely buy the iPad Pro (2024) right now, since there’s probably still a wait to be had for the next one, and perhaps only a new chipset will be introduced for it. It might be worth waiting for the next iPad Air as it could arrive in the first half of 2025, but the iPad Air (2024) is still fairly new so, again, we may not see many updates.

The most valuable of these products may be the iPad 11 because, unlike the latest Air and Pro models, the iPad 10.9 (2022) does not support Apple Intelligence, so even if this future model has a new chipset, it could open up a whole new world opportunities.

As always, we’ll take these claims with a grain of salt, but Gurman has a good track record, so there’s a good chance these release dates will coincide.
