Two teams on very different trajectories will meet in Week 8’s Monday Night Football matchup.

The Pittsburgh Steelers just won their Week 7 primetime home game after a quarterback change and tied for first place in the AFC North tournament. The New York Giants, on the other hand, were just embarrassed at home by the Philadelphia Eagles and former Giant Saquon Barkley. They benched their quarterback for poor play and last.

Pittsburgh crushed the New York Jets on Sunday Night Football, thanks in part to a strong performance from new starter Russell Wilson.

Earlier in the day, the Giants lost to the Eagles in a divisional game, 28-3. Head coach Brian Daboll benched quarterback Daniel Jones early in the fourth quarter after he started 14-for-21 with just 99 yards passing attempts.

Who’s playing Monday Night Football today?

The Giants are looking for their third win of the season. The Steelers are seeking their third straight win and sixth of the season.

Wilson is preparing to start his second game for Pittsburgh after a successful opener that ended in a prime-time win over Aaron Rodgers and the Jets.

Wilson’s 264 yards on 16-of-29 passing set a new Steelers franchise record for most passing yards in a quarterback’s first start. Receiver George Pickens had his best game of the season with nine catches for 111 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Additionally, running back Najee Harris had his second straight game with over 100 yards and a touchdown. His 102-yard performance on 21 carries was a promising follow-up to his 106-yard, 14-carry performance against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 6.

At the other end of the field, Daboll said the team is keeping Jones in the starting lineup, but the pressure appears to remain. Daboll benched Jones in favor of free agent signing Drew Lock during the Giants’ Week 7 home loss at the hands of the Eagles.

The 2019 first-round draft pick still hasn’t scored a touchdown at home since the end of the 2022 season. In his six-year career, Jones is 1-14 in primetime games.

This is the Giants’ last primetime game of the season. They will also play a Thanksgiving Day game against the Dallas Cowboys later in the evening.
