Rankin County authorities are asking for help finding a missing teen.

RANKIN CO., Miss. (WLBT) – Authorities need your help finding a missing Hartfield Academy student.

John Michael Jones, 16, from Brandon, Mississippi.

He was last seen wearing blue shorts and a white T-shirt.

The Rankin County Sheriff’s Office said the department was notified today that Jones was missing from his home.

There is no evidence of foul play at this time, according to RCSO.

The department says Jones struggled with depression after the deaths of his father and grandparents.

This caused his family to worry that he might be contemplating self-harm.

The Rankin County Sheriff’s Office contacted the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation to request assistance in issuing a Purple Alert.
