UUMV and property crime charges, Brisbane and Sunshine Coast

Three people have been charged with multiple alleged property offenses after police tracked a stolen vehicle between Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast on October 22.

It is alleged that the stolen Nissan Patrol station wagon was traveling in the Upper Kidron area at around 3.30pm, with one person in the vehicle armed with a knife.

The vehicle was tracked by Polair heading north, allegedly at speed towards the Sunshine Coast, before a tire deflation device was successfully deployed at Cooroy.

A short time later, the Nissan stopped near the Bruce Highway at Cooroy and two occupants, a man and a woman, fled into bushland before being arrested nearby.

The vehicle continued north into Federal before coming to rest in brush off the Old Bruce Highway.

The male driver fled the scene on foot before being arrested nearby around 5:40 p.m.

After the vehicle stopped, it caught fire and caused a subsequent grass fire, which was extinguished by emergency services.

The Nissan was initially stolen from an address in Murarri on the same day.

The 24-year-old man has been charged with property crimes including trespassing, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

The 23-year-old man is charged with property crimes, including three counts of trespassing and committing a crime, and one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, attempted trespassing and theft.

A 22-year-old woman was charged with two counts of property crimes: theft and illegal use of a motor vehicle, as well as one count of breaking into premises and committing a crime.

All three are expected to appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on October 23.
