Timberwolves have ‘zero interest’ in trading Donte DiVincenzo despite rumors

According to Mark Stein of The Stein Line, Wolves have “zero interest” in moving the veteran defender despite his poor start to the season.

DiVincenzo was brought in as part of a blockbuster deal that sent Karl-Anthony Towns to the Knicks and sent Julius Randle and others back to Minnesota. But with his shooting percentages down and his impact uneven, it didn’t take long for speculation to arise about whether he could be flipped in another deal.

On paper, it makes sense, given that DiVincenzo’s $11.4 million salary this season — and $24.5 million in debt over the next two years — fits the mold of a contract that could be moved with relative ease.

However, the Wolves seem reluctant to pull the trigger, likely banking on improving the sniper position. DiVincenzo’s defensive instincts and ability to space space made him an attractive target in the first place, and the Wolves are clearly hoping those qualities will shine through once he finds his rhythm.

Let’s not forget that this guy played a key role in the victories of the teams in Milwaukee and Golden State.

For now, Minnesota’s front office appears committed to giving DiVincenzo time to get comfortable alongside Anthony Edwards, Mike Conley and Rudy Gobert. Chemistry takes time, and the Wolves clearly believe they have what it takes to become a force in the West. They are also in no rush to make a move, especially given their recent strong play.

If things change, the Wolves could revisit the situation closer to the trade deadline. But for now, fans can expect to see DiVincenzo in a Timberwolves jersey for the foreseeable future.
