Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield in The Celebrity Swaps

Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield’s press tour for A24’s We Live in Time continues as the Oscar-nominated actors appear as “substitute teachers” in a new digital series hosted by Recess Therapy’s Julian Shapiro-Barnum. .

Pugh and Garfield will be the first guests on “Celebrity Substitute,” the first digital series about celebrities “substitute teaching” their world-famous skills to a public elementary school class.

Described as “the ultimate feel-good series,” the premise of the series is simple: Each episode follows Shapiro-Barnum and a celebrity attending public school, and chronicles the bonds that form between the young children and the star. they figure out how to be a teacher.

Celebrity Swap opens on October 22 with Pugh and Garfield, followed by episodes featuring Blackpink superstar Lisa and two-time Olympic gymnast Jordan Chiles. Episodes are 5-8 minutes long and will be released weekly on YouTube, with segments available on TikTok and Instagram.

The series is created and executive produced by Shapiro-Barnum, EGOT winners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, and directed by Jake Wilson. This is a product from Ampersand.

Shapiro-Barnum is best known for hosting the viral online series “Interrupt Therapy,” in which he interviews children ages two to nine playing on the street in New York City. The kids’ show has amassed more than 7 million subscribers across multiple platforms, with guests including Michelle Obama, Olivia Rodrigo, Jenna Ortega, Charlie XCX, Rainn Wilson, Amy Poehler, Dua Lipa and more. The Recess Therapy team was also interviewed on the red carpet at this year’s Golden Globes. In 2022 Diversity and Kidoodle.TV presented Shapiro-Barnum with the Safe Streaming Hero for Family Entertainment Award.
