New Patriotic Party (NPP) flag bearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has been pictured appealing to citizens for support ahead of the 2024 elections.

A video released by his communications director, Miracles Aboagye, shows Bawumia, who is also the country’s vice-president, making calls to attract voters and gain their support.

He discusses his policies and asks for their support in the upcoming elections.

In the footage, Bawumia, accompanied by supporters at the so-called “call center” set up by the NPP, can be heard talking to various citizens.

“This is Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. How are you? … OK, thank you. You know, we have to vote very soon in December, and I need your support. Please help me by voting for me and my running mate so we can implement the new policy. Are you a driver? … I also want to be a force for change. I want to implement policies that benefit us all. So in December, please vote for me,” he told one voter.

During another call, he added: “This is Dr. Bawumia. Yes, it’s really me… I’m number one. When I come to office, I will support market women by providing them with loans for trading. When voting, don’t forget to choose the number one presidential candidate, that’s me, and also support the parliamentary candidate. Be healthy.”

With the December 2024 elections less than two months away, all political parties are stepping up their campaigns with their policies and messages to win over Ghanaian voters.

The election is expected to be a closely contested contest between the two main parties, the NPP led by Dr Bawumia and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) led by former President John Dramani Mahama.
