The Google Play Store is reportedly working on an AI-powered “Ask a Question” feature

A new artificial intelligence (AI) feature is reportedly coming to the Google Play Store that will make it easier for users to discover new apps and learn more about them. The feature is reportedly under development, and several lines of code related to it have been found in the latest version of the marketplace. The rollout of this feature is currently unknown, however the code highlights that it may be available as a chatbot. This will be the third AI feature on the market after AI Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) and AI Summary Reviews.

A new artificial intelligence feature is reportedly coming to the Google Play Store

According to a report by Android Authority, Google is working on adding an artificial intelligence feature that can answer various user queries. This feature was discovered in Google Play Store version 43.3.32-31. The application build contains several lines of code highlighting a feature that might be called “Ask a Question.”

There is currently one AI feature on the Play Store called AI-generated FAQs. This feature automatically adds frequently asked questions about apps to the app listing page, and users can read them to know basic information about apps. However, this is not an interactive feature, and users cannot learn about specific features even if they wanted to.

Google appears to be addressing this issue with its Ask a Question feature. According to the report, the publication discovered three lines of code. The first one says “Beneathed by AI,” highlighting that the feature under development will be powered by AI. The second line reportedly reads, “Ask a question about this app,” and the third line reads, “Ask a question.”

Based on this information, this is most likely a chatbot style feature. The publication claims that it can be available to users both on the application list page and on the application results page. Users can reportedly use it to ask any question about a particular app. Moreover, it is claimed that this tool will also help users in app discovery and allow them to easily find the apps they want.

However, these are just assumptions, and nothing definitive can be said about this function. For this, we will have to wait for Google to officially announce it.
