Music biopics continue to emerge, with many opting to take the segment-based life route (see: Bob Marley: One Love) rather than the cradle-to-grave approach.

Now that the cameras are rolling, we get our first look at “Deliver Me from Nowhere,” which will detail the recording of one specific album from iconic rocker Bruce Springsteen’s back catalogue.

Springsteen is played by Jeremy Allen White, who knows a thing or two about playing people dedicated to the cause of creation after playing the determined Carmi in Bear, although here he trades cooking for music.

Scott Cooper, who directed films such as Crazy Heart, Hostiles and Black Mass, is directing the film from his own script.

Here’s what Cooper had to say about working on the new film:

“Starting production on this film has been an incredibly humbling and exciting journey. Bruce Springsteen’s “Nebraska” deeply shaped my artistic vision. The album’s raw, unadorned portrayal of life’s challenges and resilience resonates deeply with me. Our film strives to capture that same spirit, bringing to the screen Warren Zanes’ compelling narrative of Bruce’s life with authenticity and hope, paying tribute to Bruce’s legacy in a transformative cinematic experience.”

The new film follows Springsteen as he struggles to record his 1982 album Nebraska. The record’s follow-up to Springsteen’s 1981 album The River Tour marked a turning point in his life that he would not speak openly until decades after its release.

It is considered a milestone in his musical odyssey and an inspiration for a generation of artists and musicians. Recorded on a 4-track tape machine in Springsteen’s New Jersey bedroom and without the participation of The E Street Band, “Nebraska” stands as one of Springsteen’s most enduring works – a raw, unsettling acoustic record populated by lost souls searching for a reason to believe.

While there’s no specific date in the books, 20th Century Studios hopes it will hit theaters in 2025. If all goes well, we’re guessing it will debut during awards season.
