MANILA – The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) launched its latest flagship infrastructure projects in the areas of health and education.

PAGCOR Chairman and CEO Alejandro Tengco announced details of its new projects during the signing of a joint memorandum circular with its partner agencies, the Department of Education (DepEd) and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), on October 2. 23.

“Over four years, we hope to build at least 1,200 classrooms, or about 300 classrooms per year, under this new infrastructure project as part of our commitment to nation-building,” Tengco said in a Sunday press release, adding that they will prioritize to the distant future. scattered and remote communities.

In addition to school buildings, Tengco said PAGCOR will also build 200 e-learning centers, which will be built in areas with a high concentration of educational institutions.

Each e-learning center will have 48 computer stations with internet connectivity, making them ideal centers for online research and even computer literacy courses.

The third phase of the flagship projects will be health and wellness centers, which will include doctors’ offices and consultation rooms, dental clinics, vaccination rooms, treatment rooms and a multi-use area.

Tengco said PAGCOR will build at least 100 health centers across the country to provide quality care, especially in poor communities.

PAGCOR will also construct 50 social-civic centers that beneficiary local governments can use as venues for workshops and training, as well as for community and social gatherings that have the potential to generate income.

Multi-purpose centers can also be used as evacuation centers during natural disasters and disasters.

“We want these projects to benefit as many Filipinos as possible because we believe that laying the foundation for a stronger nation is not the sole responsibility of the education sector, but should be a collective effort among agencies and organizations,” Tengco said.

According to the circular memorandum, DPWH will take over the construction of the new PAGCOR flagship projects, while DepEd will manage the schools and e-learning centers, including the provision of teachers and other personnel.

The agreement was also signed by DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan and Deputy Secretary Sonny Angara.

Angara said PAGCOR’s commitment to build more classrooms will greatly assist the education sector.

“Currently the deficit in our classes is 165 thousand. “Having PAGCOR build hundreds of classrooms is a big help,” he said.
