Hurricanes goaltender Kochetkov is in concussion protocol after an on-ice collision over the weekend

RALEIGH, N.C. — Carolina Hurricanes goaltender Petr Kochetkov is in concussion protocol, coach Rod Brind’Amour said Monday.

Kochetkov left Saturday’s game against Columbus after colliding with teammate Sean Walker. Brind’Amour did not give an exact time frame for Kochetkov’s return to the team, which is already suffering from injuries in this position.

“You see some guys bounce back really quickly, some guys take a little longer,” Brind’Amour said. “Hopefully this is a comeback variety.”

Kochetkov, 25, is 10-2-0 this year with a 2.42 goals-against average and .904 save percentage.

The Hurricanes said last week that goaltender Frederik Andersen will require knee surgery with a projected recovery time of eight to 12 weeks.

Carolina hosts Dallas on Monday night.
