Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban ‘considering returning to Australia’ after ‘dark’ year

Nicole Kidman and her husband Keith Urban are reportedly considering returning to their native Australia from the US after a difficult year.

Kidman’s mother Janelle died in September aged 84, and the 57-year-old actress returned to Sydney last month for the funeral.

Amid personal tragedy, she has been busy traveling around the United States, promoting her latest films and filming a new project.

Her family and friends are said to be concerned the Big Little Lies star is suffering from “burnout” as sources claim Kidman and country singer Urban are considering moving home permanently.

“Nicole and Keith have had the worst year ever, they barely spent any time together and she was alone during some of her toughest times,” a source told Woman’s Day magazine.

“The big worry on everyone’s mind is: How much more of this can she take?”

Urban, 57, is reportedly considering giving up touring to support Kidman after his 10-day residency in Las Vegas ends in February.

The Standard has contacted Kidman’s representatives for comment.

Kidman was joined by Urban and their daughters Sandi Rose, 16, and Faith Margaret, 14, at her mother’s funeral in October, and they were reunited with their younger sister Antonia at the service.

The family later flew back to Los Angeles together.

Janelle died last month, just hours before Kidman won the best actress award for her role in Baby at the Venice Film Festival.

Kidman and Urban, who married in 2006, currently live in Nashville, Beverly Hills and New York.

The couple still own property in Australia, including a farmhouse in the Southern Highlands and two penthouses in Sydney, which they rent out.

Kidman has been busy promoting her new thriller Baby, starring British actor Harris Dickinson, which will be released in December, and has attended a number of red carpet events this month.

Kidman’s tense conversation with Salma Hayek at the Balenciaga show in September during Paris Fashion Week went viral after footage emerged of her pushing Hayek’s hand away, pointing at it and saying, “Don’t touch me.”

She is currently filming the six-part crime series Scarpetta in the US.

This year, she starred in the Netflix romantic comedy Family Affair, as well as the Netflix thriller The Perfect Match and the second series of the series SWAT: Lioness.

The actress recently opened up about how she finds it difficult to find time for herself in her schedule.

“It’s really hard for me to say, ‘Okay, I’ll just take care of myself,’ because I focus so much on taking care of other people,” she told Variety last month.

“I think, ‘I can create more work for people. I can create jobs for people.” And also, I like it. I have passion.

“I just need to take care of my body. I wish I had superpowers because I would love to be everywhere.”
