Conscious Drink releases blueberry wine backed by OzHarvest, ripe for Christmas

In the glass, it looks like a pet-nat-style sparkling wine: slightly cloudy, pale pink, slightly fizzy. It smells and tastes like rose prosecco: herbal, spicy, refreshing, but also slightly bitter. This is exactly what you’ll want to drink ahead of the hot summer holidays.

But it is not made from grapes and does not contain alcohol. In fact, the just-released new batch of Conscious Drink—a collaboration between bush foods company Kakadu Kitchen, food rescue organization OzHarvest, and soft drink maker ALTD Spirits—is made from blueberries that would otherwise go to landfill, and flavored with local botanicals from indigenous suppliers. Not only that, but a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the drink go towards feeding people in need and growing more local ingredients.
