NBL players Montrezl Harrell and Kendrick Davis have been suspended for a melee involving spectators.

NBL players Montrezl Harrell and Kendrick Davis were suspended and fined for their involvement in the melee, which also included a spectator.

A single tribunal has upheld the punishment imposed by the league for the pair’s actions during the nasty few minutes between Melbourne United and the Adelaide 36ers that marred the October 17 clash at John Cain Arena.

The United-Sixers clash flared up in the final quarter when Harrell and United’s Rob Law caught the attention of teammates and, ultimately, fans.

The situation escalated further when the Sixers returned to the bench and became embroiled in a verbal war with the courtside crowd that quickly turned physical.

Four spectators were thrown from the site, including a season ticket holder.

The league has not yet announced a resolution to investigate spectator behavior.

The trial was postponed until Monday because the 36ers hired a lawyer who specialized in “racial, derogatory or offensive language issues” to represent Harrell and Davis.

Harrell was suspended for three games and fined a total of $3,685 after the tribunal upheld two charges of striking, one charge of unarmed combat and one charge of improperly holding or handling a spectator.

Davis was suspended for two matches after his charge of improperly holding or handling a spectator was upheld.

The NBL said the 36ers could appeal the decision to a full tribunal.

Adelaide’s next match is at home on Saturday when they take on the JackJumpers.
