A self-explanatory branch Dune The films feature some of the best actors the industry has to offer, although replicating the scale and cinematography of Denis Villeneuve’s unique vision would be an impossible task in itself.

Despite the struggle he will have to face, Dune: Prophecy takes on the world of the Harkonnens and Bene Gesserit with enough conviction to outshine even the efforts of Charlotte Rampling and Rebecca Ferguson in the film.

The idea that Frank Herbert explores in his dystopian novel has long been present in the real world. Civilizations suffered collapse and empires faced complete collapse as dictators with absolute power attempted to establish their dogmatic dominance over the common masses.

Ideological and religious hierarchy has never been a stable form of government, and this was proven time and time again by Hitler’s Third Reich, the Crusades and the war of Protestants against Catholics in England.

Denis Villeneuve recognized the references that Herbert was aiming for very early in its creation and development Dune scenario. Thus, in his cinematic adaptation, the director tried to draw a parallel between the infamous utopia that Hitler once dreamed of building and the planet Harkonnen, thus forming a terrifying connection between both repressive structures.

Dune: ProphecyAs he delves into the world of the Harkonnens, it is now necessary to turn to Villeneuve’s ingenious addition to films that were never acknowledged in a timely manner, let alone recognized in all their glory.

According to eagle-eyed Denis Villeneuve fan Dune With expert authority on the Third Reich, Giedi Prime, the Harkonnen homeworld, copies the architectural designs of Hitler’s undeveloped utopia. In retrospect, the parallels stare defiantly at the audience as Villeneuve built an imitation of Hitler’s Germany right under our very noses.

Parallels point to similarities between Germany’s Crown Jewel and Giedi Prime, which focuses on the structure of the central dome, large enough to dwarf the Pantheon. The streets and boulevards that lie beneath the structure are constructed in such a way that they immediately draw the viewer’s attention to the dome in the center, making it the epicenter of power and absolute power, towering above the rest of the empire.

Denis Villeneuve’s clever design to replicate the repressive symbol of the Third Reich in his version of the Harkonnens base of operations makes Dune The adaptation stands out for its dire consequences and grisly imagery. One can only wish that the director would publicly acknowledge his inspiration for creating Giedi Prime so that the world would become wary of his unprecedented ingenuity.
