Most voters approve of Trump’s approach to presidential transition: poll

A majority of voters say they approve of President-elect Trump’s handling of the presidential transition as the country continues to hold its breath for a peaceful transfer of power in January.

A new CBS News poll released Sunday found that 59 percent of voters say they approve of how Trump is handling his presidential transition, while 41 percent say they disapprove.

The poll also examined voter sentiment about Trump’s re-election, with many Americans saying they were excited or optimistic about his upcoming presidency.

More than half of Republicans surveyed (54 percent) say they are excited about what Trump will do as president, while only 4 percent of Democrats say the same. Additionally, 41 percent of Republicans say they are optimistic about a Trump presidency, while 11 percent of Democrats say the same.

Overall, 31 percent of Americans surveyed say they are glad Trump was elected, while 24 percent said they are satisfied with the results. On the other hand, 23 percent say they are dissatisfied with the results, and 21 percent say they are unhappy with the outcome.

Since his election, Trump has won some favor among Americans. Another poll released last week found that 54 percent of respondents said they approved of Trump’s actions. The approval rating is boosted by 91 percent of Republicans who said so, but it also includes 49 percent of independents and 22 percent of Democrats.

In recent weeks, Trump has refused to sign memorandums of understanding with the Biden White House and federal departments and agencies to ensure a smooth transition of power and give Trump and his team access to classified information.

By law, Trump’s transition ethics plan was required to be published on the General Services Administration website by Oct. 1.
