The government is considering using Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus’ Three Zeroes theory to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Government policymakers said it would be easy for the country to achieve the SDG targets by effectively applying the “three zeros” theory at the public and private levels.

Professor Muhammad Yunus has made a powerful appeal to world leaders to build a “Three Zero World”, which means zero poverty, zero unemployment and zero net carbon emissions.

The triple zero theory is an elected and popular model designed to bring economic emancipation, create a workforce and protect the environment in the modern world, analysts say.

The theory is a socio-economic view. They say youth efforts, use of technology, good governance and social business can help achieve triple zero goals.

Founder of Grameen Bank and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Professor Yunus has been praised around the world for his theory of three zeros.

Regarding theory, the Chief SDG Coordinator told BSS that the government is trying to integrate theory with SDG targets.

In this regard, a seminar has already been held with the participation of government and private individuals.

“We want to raise awareness of the triple zeros at all levels for sustainable development,” she added.

Noting that theory is taken into account in all SDG implementation activities, Lamia Morshed said Professor Yunus did not want to impose theory in activities, but the government is keen to encourage people to apply it.

Thus, she said, the government has not taken any mega initiatives on this theory other than implementing the SDGs.

Speaking at the Climate Summit (COP-29) in Baku, Azerbaijan, the Chief Adviser stressed the need to create a new way of life based on zero waste and zero carbon emissions to protect the planet from climate disasters.

“To survive, we need to create a different culture. A counterculture that is based on a different way of life. It is based on zero waste. It will limit consumption to basic needs, leaving no residual waste,” Yunus told the summit.

Professor Yunus said this lifestyle would also be based on zero carbon emissions – no fossil fuels, just renewable energy – and it would be an economy based primarily on zero personal profit, such as social business.

Defining social business as a non-dividend business that aims to address social and environmental issues, he said a significant portion of social business will focus on protecting the environment and humanity.

“People’s lives will not only be protected, but also improved through affordable healthcare and education. This will promote the development of entrepreneurship among youth. Young people will be prepared through new entrepreneurship education. Training for creators looking for work will be replaced by education focused on entrepreneurship. “, said the chief adviser.

He said young people will enjoy this lifestyle as a choice, while every young person will grow up as a person with three zeros: zero net carbon emissions, zero concentration of wealth, just by creating a social business, and zero unemployment, becoming entrepreneurs.

“Every person will grow up to be a three-zero person and remain a three-zero person all his life. This will create a new civilization,” he said.
