KF Aerospace will play a key role in the future of military flight training

KF Aerospace will take a leading role in shaping the future of Canada’s military flight training through its participation in the Future Aircrew Training (FAcT) program. As part of a 25-year initiative to modernize and improve military flight training, KF Aerospace will leverage its expertise in aircraft acquisition, training and airworthiness as a key subcontractor to SkyAlyne.

As part of the programme, KF Aerospace will continue to manage operations at Southport. The company will oversee advanced multi-engine flight training using the newly acquired Beechcraft King Air 260. This next-generation aircraft replaces the previously used King Air C-90B and offers enhanced capabilities for trainee pilots.

Southport’s responsibilities will also include simulator and classroom scheduling, flight management and dispatch, training administration and subcontractor supervision. The construction of new facilities and the delivery of upgraded equipment will support the growing program in the coming years.

Aircraft acquisition

KF Aerospace is tasked with procuring five fleets of training aircraft to support the program at three sites: Southport, Moose Jaw and Winnipeg. The aircraft includes:

  • Grob G120TP for basic flight training
  • Pilatus PC-21 for advanced training and training of jet pilots
  • Beechcraft King Air 260 for advanced multi-engine training
  • Airbus H135 helicopters for rotorcraft training
  • De Havilland Dash 8-400 for training Air Combat Systems Officers and Airborne Electronic Sensor Operators in Winnipeg

These aircraft were selected for their performance, safety and suitability to meet the stringent requirements of military training.
