Is Malik Nabers playing today? The Giants’ star rookie went without a catch in the first half against the Buccaneers.

With Daniel Jones no longer the starting quarterback in New York, the Giants entered Week 12 hoping that Tommy DeVito would help revive a struggling offense.

With DeVito under center, rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers had the potential to be more involved in the Giants’ game plan after his outstanding start to the 2024 season cooled off a bit.

However, when DeVito, Nabers and the rest of the Giants took on the Buccaneers in Week 12, the former LSU Tiger was not used at all in the first half.

Will Nabers play against Tampa Bay on Sunday? Here’s the latest on his status in Week 12, as well as the numbers Nabers has registered against the Buccaneers so far.

Is Malik Nabers playing today?

Although Nabers entered Sunday’s game with some injury concerns, he is healthy and active against Tampa Bay in Week 12.

The rookie received a DNP in Friday’s practice and was listed as questionable over the weekend. New York officially cleared Nabers to play before Sunday’s game, but he remained out of the team’s offense for the first two quarters.

That changed in the third quarter as the team made sure Nabers got into the game right after the break.

However, before halftime, DeVito targeted just three different Giants players (Theo Johnson, Wan’Dale Robinson, Eric Gray) as the Buccaneers led 23–0 at halftime.

Nabers has had at least four receptions in every game he has played this season. He made some quick plays in Sunday’s third quarter, so he could be up to his usual numbers in the second half.

Malik Nabers’ stats against the Buccaneers

Stats updated after the Giants’ first drive of the third quarter.

  • Goals: 3
  • Catches: 3
  • Reception areas: 42

Nabers held DeVito scoreless in the first half against Tampa Bay. The Giants’ quarterback attempted just five passes, completing three of them for 31 yards.

The situation changed after the break. Nabers and DeVito completed the team’s first three passes in the third quarter. With these games, the Giants made it clear they wanted to bring in Nabers after a slow start.

Given Nabers’ prodigious talent and the fact that he finished fourth in the league in goals scored (94) on Sunday, it was clear he wouldn’t be able to go without a catch for long.
